Description
This resource contains a slide presentation with a variety of activities about to be completed on the Google Slides app. The students will research potential classroom pets, vote and then write about their classroom pet. These activities can be completed whole group or be assigned to the students to complete independently. This resource was designed with kindergarten, first and second grade students in mind but can be used for any child who is working on their research and writing skills.
This resource includes the following activities/tasks:
- Introduction: A Visit to the Pet Shop (YouTube Video)
- Read Aloud: What Pet Should I Get? by Dr. Seuss (YouTube Video)
- Web Organizer: The students will drag and drop pictures of the pets they will research into the web organizer.
- Pet Research Videos: The students will select pets to research and watch videos about those pets. (YouTube Videos)
- Graphic Organizers: The students will use the graphic organizers to record the information they learned about the pets they selected to research.
- Vote: The students will vote for their classroom pet.
- Writing: The students will write about their classroom pet using the information they learned from their research.
- Pet Directed Drawings: This slide includes videos of how to draw a variety of pets. (YouTube Videos)
- Animal Movement Videos: This slide includes a three videos that can be used during brain breaks. (YouTube)
