Mother’s day will soon be here, fathers and teachers are running around trying to find an easy but heartfelt gift to give to mothers. Today I’m sharing an easy Mother’s Day craft for kids that can be made with things you might already have in your house and a simple song for kids to learn to sing to their mom, aunt, or grandmother.
Easy Mother’s Day Craft for Kids
Materials
- Plants
- Labels
- Craft Glue
- Foam Brush
- Acrylic Paint
- Aluminum Cans
- Ribbon, twine etc. for decorations
- Paper Bag or protective covering for table
Directions
- Paint the the aluminum can. I painted one layer and let the can dry before adding a second layer.
- Paint the top of the plant container. I did this because a portion of the plant container would be sticking out of the aluminum can. I did not plant the plant directly in the aluminum can to allow for proper drainage. However if you would like to do that, you can always drill a hole at the bottom of the pan.
- When the paint is dry use the ribbon and other materials to decorate the flower can.
- Place the plant container inside the aluminum can.
- Add the label to the aluminum can.
I hope you found this easy Mother’s Day craft for kids to your liking. If you would like to materials similar to those that I used click on the links in above in the “directions” section.

My husband and I wrote a special Mother’s Day song to the tune of “Aura Lee” This is a sweet little song that is easy to sing. This song is not just mothers, but also grandmothers, aunties or other caretakers. The title of the song is “Sweetest Lady in my Life”.
The song goes:
Hugs and kisses when I'm down, Loving all the while. You can somehow always turn, A frown into a smile. Number one, In my heart. Yes, it's really true. Sweetest lady in my life, This song is for you. You are always there to help, Tuck me into bed. What more can I say of you, That has not been said?
